Our Future.\u201d Launched<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 10: <\/strong>In a major initiative to preserve Karnataka\u2019s rich handloom heritage, strengthen the livelihoods of weavers, and position Karnataka\u2019s handloom products in national and global markets, the Government of Karnataka has earmarked a special allocation of for the promotion and development of the handloom sector under the forthcoming Karnataka Textile and Apparel Policy, said Ms. Rohini Sindhuri, IAS, Secretary, MSME, Mines &amp; Textiles Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was speaking after presenting awards at the State-level celebration of the 12th National Handloom Day held in Bengaluru.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said Karnataka\u2019s handloom tradition is not merely a cultural legacy but also the primary source of livelihood for thousands of weaving families. While preserving this heritage, the government is equally committed to modernizing the sector and making it relevant to changing market demands so that it reaches the younger generation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Box: Key Highlights of the Special Handloom Package<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 special allocation for the handloom sector<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Focus on branding and market expansion for weavers<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Design development and product value addition<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Promotion through digital platforms and e-commerce<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Positioning Karnataka handloom products in national and global markets<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2013 Launch of the statewide social media campaign \u201cOur Heritage. Our Threads. Our Future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The special package will support initiatives such as design development, product value addition, branding, digital marketing, e-commerce, market expansion, and enhancing the competitiveness of Karnataka\u2019s handloom products, she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the occasion of National Handloom Day, Rohini Sindhuri also inaugurated the Handloom Products Exhibition and Sales Pavilion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Textiles Development Commissioner A.B. Basavaraju said the new Textile Policy is being designed with the objective of making Karnataka\u2019s handloom products more competitive in both domestic and international markets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKarnataka\u2019s handloom sector is an invaluable asset to our culture and economy. Through the new Textile Policy and the statewide social media campaign, we aim to take Karnataka\u2019s handloom products to national and global markets more effectively,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further added, \u201cThe department is giving special priority to design innovation, technology adoption, branding, and market linkages so that the exceptional skills of our weavers receive global recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Former Minister and Member of the Karnataka Legislative Council, Umashree, said, \u201cHandloom is not merely an occupation; it is an integral part of our culture, tradition, and way of life. Honoring our weavers and their craftsmanship is equivalent to preserving our heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program was attended by Nagendra Kumar, Chairman, Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation; B.J.
