Indian-origin businesswoman, Dr. Bījna Kotak Dasanī MBE FRSA, praised by HRH Princess Anne for her professional journey

New Delhi (India), July 5: A distinguished former banker-turned-venture capitalist and a successful entrepreneur, Dr. Bijna Kotak Dasani MBE FRSA, is conferred with the prestigious MBE award by Her Royal Highness, Princess Royal, Princess Anne, at an Investiture ceremony held at the Throne Room, Buckingham Palace, London.

Speaking to the media, Dr. Dasani said: “The recognition is appreciated and attributed to the supporters of my journey over the years; equally, it is a responsibility towards which I hold myself accountable, and will continue to deliver. I have the utmost admiration for the Royal Family, having learnt about their impact through the proximity of opportunities to serve The Crown and having been supported through milestones by institutions of The Crown over the years.

Princess Royal leads by example in her patronage of Opportunity International and over 300 charities, organisations and military regiments in the UK and overseas. In a similar fashion, His Majesty King Charles III has been instrumental in establishing more than 20 charities over 40 years, including The Prince’s Trust, which I have also served and taken inspiration from early on in my career.”

The prestigious MBE is bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and service to the community, making a significant impact on society. Dr. Dasani has lived and worked in some of the World’s most prominent financial centres (with renowned financial institutions such as Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, SSGA, and Lloyds Banking Group, Morgan Stanley) over the last 23 years and progressed through the ranks to c-suite roles whilst re-scripting the narrative on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) along the way.

She is a leading voice in surrounding industries such as Venture Capital, FinTech and Technology, and most recently issued thought-leadership content in association with Seamless Xtra, highlighting how India’s UPI platforms and associated policies can support global financial literacy and inclusion.

In India, Bijna serves on the boards of India’s first venture capital FinTech fund, the Global FinTech Fest Council, and is a Judge for the Global FinTech Awards. She is also a patron of the Intrapreneurship Conclave and a judge for The Vanguard Awards (Bangalore).

Dr.Bijna led the Asia Pacific Transformation business for Morgan Stanley, where she was highly commended for her efforts through the pandemic and appreciated for her leadership; Morgan Stanley later named her Advocate of the Year for Diversity and Inclusion (2021) and honoured Dr. Dasani in Times Square (New York) on prime billboards for eight days. During her tenure at Morgan Stanley, Dr. Dasani led the bank’s first-ever global domestic violence awareness campaign, which received acclaim and support from the bank’s (then) Vice Chairman Jeff Brodsky, members of the World Economic Forum and New Scotland Yard.

Dr Bijna raised education and awareness of topics such as economic empowerment, allyship and empathy in the workplace and more. She interviewed key business personalities, including Falguni Nayar (CEO, Nykaa) on topics such as opportunities for women through careers in STEM and utilised the learnings to support learnings which resulted in several thought-leadership interviews for the likes of Banking Frontiers magazine.

Furthermore, in 2022, Dr. Bijna later appeared as a lead campaign ‘story of hope for World Suicide Prevention Awareness Month’ for actress Deepika Padukone’s Live Love Laugh Foundation; the aim of this foundation is to combine knowledge and domain expertise to create awareness about mental health, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, and provide credible mental health resources, Pan-India.
