A state-level Pickleball Tournament, to rank players in the state of Gujarat, will take place on the 1st and the 2nd of July 2023, at the Karnavati Club, Ahmedabad

The idea behind this is to pick participants, to represent Gujarat state at the Pickleball Nationals.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 30: This tournament is slated to see over 100 contestants, the highest number of participants ever, take part in a state-level national tournament. This goes to show not just the growing popularity of Pickleball but the abundance of talent in Gujarat as well.

“We are proud of the numbers, we are amazed by the talent, we look forward to each talent that will take our state’s name forward in the National’s,” says Gujarat State Pickleball Association President, Suryaveer Singh Bhullar. He adds, “With this massive turnout, we also are hoping to be recognised by the Government of Gujarat and the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.”

The 6 event Singles and Doubles categories will see the following matches – Women’s Open, Boys U-14, Boys U-18, Mens 19+, Men’s 35+, Men’s 50+, and Open Mixed Doubles.

For those uninitiated yet interested in knowing more about Pickleball, here are some interesting facts

    In the whole of 2022, more people played Pickleball than baseball, soccer & football combined. A whopping 36.5 million chose to play the game vs just 22.6 million who chose tennis.

    The social interaction and various physical demands promote cardiovascular health & mental agility.
  • Former top tennis players like Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, John McEnroe, and Micheal Chang are avid ‘Picklers’
  • It is reported that Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has a Pickleball court created in his house as he is addicted to the game. Interestingly, The scoring starts with 0-0-2
